Treat the working device as a collection of file locations and user sessions. Identify the project folder, Downloads directory, synchronized storage, and any removable drive involved in a normal task. Decide which copy is authoritative and who should be able to open it. This inventory gives device protection a practical connection to the documents you need to use.
Read the Windows, Mac, and Linux article to compare the layers around a workstation. Follow the relevant platform topic for your own environment and keep approved organizational settings in view. Include storage protection and recovery, application accounts, and the route to remote resources. If the machine is shared, document how work begins and ends for each person.
Test a representative document after a restart, a locked session, and a reconnect to an approved resource. Check for conflict copies and unfinished saves. Try recovering an accepted file through the established backup procedure, using ordinary sample material. Keep the resulting instructions where the next operator can find them so important access and recovery knowledge does not remain tied to one person.
