Local LLMs and private files: build a smaller data boundary
Running a model locally is one design choice. Check parsers, embeddings, interfaces, storage, and network access to understand the complete file workflow.

Choose an AI file task that has a result you can check: extracting defined fields, comparing two drafts, or summarizing a particular section. Then identify the smallest source set that can support it. This collection follows that preparation into the processing environment and the generated output, helping you keep the application, account, and document boundaries visible.
Begin with the upload privacy review to organize the questions you should answer before supplying private material. Continue with the local LLM guide when your workflow involves a runtime you operate. Compare the complete environments rather than only their model labels. Include document parsers, indexes, tools, working directories, and any services that participate in producing the answer.
Use a harmless evaluation file with known facts, a missing value, and an ambiguous passage. Check whether the answer identifies its evidence and handles uncertainty usefully. Save accepted results with the source version recorded, then review the audience for the resulting document. A concise summary can still contain information that deserves the same deliberate sharing decision as the original.
